<p>TOKYO &ndash; Paris, eat your heart out. The creators of the famed Michelin Guides have bestowed a virtual galaxy of 191 stars to 150 restaurants in Tokyo &#8212; more stars than in any other city in the world, including Paris.</p>
<p>Eight restaurants in the Japanese capital, including two sushi eateries, received Michelin&#8217;s highest three-star rating, according to the new Tokyo guide announced Monday, the first outside Europe and the United States. But Paris can still claim to have the most top-rated restaurants, with 10.</p>
<p>The 191 stars were the most awarded to any city. Paris previously had the most, with 65.</p>
<p>Michelin also crowned 82-year-old Jiro Ono of Sukiyabashi Jiro sushi restaurant in central Tokyo as the world&#8217;s oldest three-star chef.</p>
<p>&#8220;Tokyo is a shining star in the world of cuisine,&#8221; Michelin Guides Director Jean-Luc Naret said at a news conference. He declared Tokyo &#8220;the world leader in gourmet dining.&#8221;</p>
<p>Clutching his Michelin plaque as he mixed with other chefs at a cocktail party later Monday, Ono said he was stunned by his three-star rating.</p>
<p>&#8220;I never dreamed this would happen. I&#8217;ve just always tried to make good sushi using the freshest fish,&#8221; Ono said. &#8220;But with global warming, our catch is going down. From now on, I will make the best of what resources we have left.&#8221;</p>
<p>A team of three undercover European and two Japanese inspectors spent a year and a half visiting 1,500 of Tokyo&#8217;s estimated 160,000 restaurants to decide on the ratings, according to Michelin. The famed guidebook series rates establishments on excellence in cooking, service, decor and upkeep.</p>
<p>There were so many good restaurants that all entries in Michelin&#8217;s Tokyo edition have at least one star, a first for any city, Naret said. Five of the eight awarded top honors served Japanese cuisine, while three served French.</p>
<p>In another first, two restaurants received top ratings despite getting rapped for their service, which the guidebook rates separately.</p>
<p>Sukiyabashi Jiro and Sushi Mizutani were awarded three stars even though their &#8220;Category of Comfort&#8221; rating was just 1 out of a scale of 5. Even the top sushi chefs here tend to serve their fare in small, starkly decorated eateries with minimal table service.</p>
<p>&#8220;That doesn&#8217;t mean the cuisine is anything less than first rate,&#8221; said Taku Suzuki, spokesman for Michelin in Japan.</p>
<p>On top of formal Japanese &#8220;kaiseki&#8221; cuisine, the guide includes shops specializing in puffer fish, deep-fried tempura, grilled eel, teppanyaki-style barbecue and soba noodles.</p>
<p>The entries in Michelin&#8217;s Tokyo edition appeared to have eased local skepticism that the French can be the best judge of Japan&#8217;s culinary traditions.</p>
<p>&#8220;The French do not understand anything about sushi &#8230; how can they judge us?&#8221; Yoshikazu Ono had told The Associated Press in March when the Tokyo guide was announced. Ono, a chef at Sukiyabashi Jiro and son of Jiro Ono, beamed at his father&#8217;s side at Monday&#8217;s party.</p>
<p>Toru Okuda, who won three stars for his modern Japanese restaurant, Koju, said it was about time the world recognized Tokyo&#8217;s culinary brilliance.</p>
<p>&#8220;Tokyo is delicious, whatever you eat, wherever you eat,&#8221; Okuda said. &#8220;I wonder why Michelin didn&#8217;t come here earlier,&#8221; he said.</p>
<p>The first Michelin guide was published in 1900 as a handbook for French motorists. Guides to 23 countries are published by the Clermont-Ferrand-based tire company of the same name.</p>

Michelin will announce a guide to a second Asian city next year, according to Naret.</p>

<p>Heart Rate Information</p>
<p>Even though the heart rate is a huge element to achieving an optimal workout, and its been around forever, many individuals do not know what theirs is, or how to measure it, or even to care about it. So I am going to clarify this simple yet important component to fitness.</p>
<p>Over time, your heart becomes more efficient at delivering the oxygen and fuel required by the muscles to maintain this higher level of performance. The skeletal muscles also becomes better at extracting oxygen from the bloodstream. With continued consistent exercise, the cardiovascular system continues to consistently improve.</p>
<p>- track your heart rate while you exercise, getting a heart rate monitor is helpful<br />
- resting heart rate (measured in beats per minute) is averagely about 70 bpm for men and 75 bpm for women<br />
- know your max heart rate &#8211; subtract your age from 220. Example if you are 28 years old your max heart rate would be 192, it&#8217;s going to be an estimated number and will vary for each person but this is the number you don&#8217;t want to go over<br />
- find your target heart rate, there are a few methods for doing this<br />
- Karvonen method<br />
The Karvonen method factors in Resting Heart Rate (HRrest) to calculate Target Heart Rate (THR):<br />
THR = ((HRmax &#8220;&#8221; HRrest) &#195;- %Intensity) + HRrest</p>
<p>Example for someone with a HRmax of 180 and a HRrest of 70:<br />
50% intensity: ((180 &#8211; 70) &#195;- 0.50) + 70 = 125 bpm<br />
85% intensity: ((180 &#8211; 70) &#195;- 0.85) + 70 = 163 bpm<br />
- Zoladz method<br />
An alternative to the Karvonen method is the Zoladz method, which derives exercise zones by subtracting values from HRmax.<br />
THR = HRmax &#8220;&#8221; Adjuster &#177; 5 bpm<br />
Zone 1 Adjuster = 50 bpm<br />
Zone 2 Adjuster = 40 bpm<br />
Zone 3 Adjuster = 30 bpm<br />
Zone 4 Adjuster = 20 bpm<br />
Zone 5 Adjuster = 10 bpm<br />
Example for someone with a HRmax of 180:<br />
Zone 1 (easy exercise) : 180 &#8211; 50 = 130; &#177; 5 ? 125 to 135 bpm<br />
Zone 4 (tough exercise): 180 &#8211; 20 = 160; &#177; 5 ? 155 to 165 bpm<br />
- And a third and less scientific way is some people simply increase their goal heart rate by 5 each week<br />
- heart rate abnormalities, while not common do exist and would be identified by your doctor, if you experience these you should discuss all exercise plans with your physician before beginning<br />
- Know how to take your pulse properly. Place your index and middle fing<br />

ers directly under your ear, then slide your fingers down until they are directly under your jawbone, pressing lightly. Start with zero on the first beat and count for 10 seconds then multiply by six. Always check your pulse frequently throughout your workout to make sure you within your target heart rate zone.<br />
- Know when to slow down. Even without a heart rate monitor, you need to know when to begin to slow back down. A good indicator is becoming breathless, you should be able to talk and carry on mild conversation while exercising, not be breathless.<br />
- don&#8217;t just stop, cool down</p>
<p>Knowing this simple information will help you greatly in evaluating your progress when training to get fit, or when training to compete. You can develop your training sessions and know what you need to change or add in your program by being in tune to your Heart Rate.</p>
<p>Target heart rate training provides a scientific approach to tracking your improving levels of fitness. With a decent heart rate monitor, it becomes easier to monitor your workouts. It allows you to measure exercise intensity independently of what activity is being performed by focusing on heart rate as the measure of exercise intensity.</p>
<p>If you haven&#8217;t been making the kind of progress you know you are capable of, you might consider this methodical approach to improving fitness!</p>

<p>CANBERRA, March 2 &#8211; China should withdraw some monetary<span id="more-127"></span> stimulus but most advanced economies should keep their interest rates low, International Monetary Fund Deputy Managing Director Murilo Portugal said on Tuesday.</p>
<p>Portugal, speaking to a commodities conference in the Australian capital, also said Australia should withdraw stimulus spending only gradually.</p>

<p>Custom Designed Industrial Blenders</p>
<p>Many types of products are manufactured by blending together a number of different ingredients. Each ingredient may be in a different type of condition, such as powders, pellets, liquids, or others. Other than liquids, it is very difficult to meter out the correct amount of each ingredient by volume, because its volume may be affected by temperature, humidity, and the amount of material in the dispensing container. Powders can be easily compacted in storage. The best choice is to use weight to meter ingredients for blending.</p>
<p>Because each product blended has different requirements, the blending equipment must also be designed differently. A liquid mixing system is completely different from one that combines different powders and chemicals, such as a blender for plastic injection molding. Arlyn Scales designs and manufactures blending equipment customized for the specific application.</p>
<p>All industrial blenders that uses the weight of the ingredients for metering purposes will include many of the same components as will be found in industrial scales. These include load cells as the weight transducer, a user interface for the input of parameters and viewing the data, and a controller to convert the load cell signals into weights, and to open and close the devices that feed each ingredient into the mixing area. Each of these components will generally need customization to match the specifications of the blending situation.</p>
<p>Besides the primary responsibility of precision metering of ingredients, the controller may also need to store large amounts of data for later analysis. This can occur in a flash memory stick for later downloading into a computer system, or may include a USB data output port for direct connection in real time to the computer. Another interesting alternative is an Ethernet connection into the Internet. This provides real time monitoring and data analysis of blenders from any Internet connected remote location.</p>

<p>Train More Effectively With A Heart Rate Monitor</p>
<p>Today&#8217;s heart rate monitors have made it easier for athletes of all levels to get the same feedback they would get from a high-priced trainer. It&#8217;s like having a personal coach strapped to your wrist.</p>
<p>Until you get a heart rate monitor, you measure your effort by time or distance. With a heart rate monitor, however, you can now get a better indication of effort. And it comes from the heart. Literally. Your heart will tell you how hard you are exercising, how fit you are, and how you are recovering. Knowing these things will make you training more effective.</p>
<p>A heart rate monitor consists of a watch unit worn on the wrist and a chest transmitter strap. The watch can be worn as a regular sports watch, and when not connected to the transmitter strap, will still give you time of day, alarms, stopwatch functions, etc. The chest transmitter senses your heartbeat and constantly transmits that information to the watch.</p>
<p>There are some units that don&#8217;t use a chest strap. These normally measure the pulse when the user places two fingers on each of two buttons on the watch face. Pulse is a decent measurement, but does not give you the same level of continual information a chest strap will.</p>
<p>One of the first things you need to know when using a heart rate monitor is what your maximum heart rate is. The standard formula used is to subtract your age from 220. You can then calculate at what percentage of maximum you should be exercising at.</p>
<p>When doing cardiovascular training, research says exercising at 60-70% of your maximum heart rate will be best for fat loss and to build endurance, while exercising in the 70-80% of maximum range will increase your fitness.</p>
<p>There are a number of features available in modern heart rate monitors. Some are more useful than others. Of course, a constant measurement of heart rate is vital. It is helpful to be able to set zone alarms or otherwise be able to see where you are compared to your maximum heart rate. Some will do all the calculations for you, telling you when to ease up or to pour it on, depending on your workout for that day. Others will just show a heart rate number, and you will need to know what the upper and lower limits are for your workout.</p>
<p>It pays to shop around for the features you need, and not buy a lot of thi<br />

ngs you don&#8217;t need. Too many extra features may confuse you and discourage you from using your heart rate monitor regularly. That&#8217;s bad. It&#8217;s better to get something simple that you can commit to using regularly. Still, if you can handle it, there are some sweet features available.</p>
<p>Whatever heart rate monitor you choose, use it regularly. It will provide you so with much detailed information about your training; you&#8217;ll wonder what you ever did without it, and you&#8217;ll never want to be without one again.</p>

<p>I am currently looking at the Garmin Forerunner 301.  Does any one have one of these watches or a watch that they like?  I would like to keep the price reasonable 200 or less.  Any ideas suggestions?  Please serious responses.  I am getting close to my first 1/2 marathon and plan to move to a full when ready.  I am not a cyclist or a swimmer, runner only.</p>

<p>LAS VEGAS &ndash; A 10,000-square-foot suite that includes a basketball halfcourt rents for $25,000 a night at Palms Casino Resort. At MGM Grand&#8217;s Skylofts, you&#8217;ll find a bathtub that fizzes with tiny champagne-like massage bubbles, TVs in the mirrors and airport pickup in a $400,000 car.</p>
<p>If you&#8217;re worried about your mortgage and your job, such luxuries might sound downright obscene. But Las Vegas has always specialized in turning fantasy into reality &#8212; for a price. Several Vegas hotels offer suites with futuristic amenities, audacious themes, enough room to hold a wedding along with the honeymoon, and pricetags to match.</p>
<p>There are suites with massage and film screening rooms, 24-hour butler service, pools that seem to hover above the ground, even see-through glass show showers (cue up the thumping music).</p>
<p>Like Absolut Vodka? There&#8217;s a sweet suite at Caesars Palace themed after its various flavors, though Absolut Raspberri doesn&#8217;t flow from the faucets. <p>&#8220;The idea that you can be still a part of the Palms and not be in the casino atmosphere has been a huge draw,&#8221; said Palms owner George Maloof. &#8220;Palms Place has an upscale feeling and is a place where you can just stay and order room service, but you&#8217;re also still close to everything.&#8221;</p>
<p>At MGM Grand&#8217;s Skylofts, you&#8217;ll find high-tech crossed with high-end service.</p>
<p>Airport pickup is in a Maybach 62. Butlers pack and unpack your suitcase (might want to be careful what you put in there). Remote controls operate everything from music to drapes. Need a jeweler to bring some ice to your room? The concierge can arrange it.</p>

<p>There&#8217;s the Hugh Hefner Sky Villa, which is furnished about how you&#8217;d expect: sexy reds and whites, leather, artwork picked out by Hef himself and a rotating bed with mirrors on the ceiling. The Hardwood Suite, located in the Fantasy Tower at Palms Casino Resort, is hoops heaven: an NBA-sized halfcourt with Murphy beds in the walls so you can wake up and start shooting right away &#8212; off the floor, off the bedpost, nothing but net!</p>
<p>You can stay in a suite with two bowling lanes, another with a DJ setup and stripper pole, or the suite where MTV&#8217;s &#8220;Real World&#8221; was filmed in 2002 &#8212; it looks exactly the same as when Alton, Arissa and the gang were there. There&#8217;s even a suite designed to look like Ghostbar, a famous hotspot with a transparent floor atop The Palms.</p>
<p>Palms Place penthouses are privately owned and rented out, so despite being high-end, they are more than a place to throw your clothes on the bed in between casino runs.
