How dangerous is it being above maximum heart rate during a workout?
Just started a serious workout (P90X) and am using a heart rate monitor for the first time. I'm 33 years old in somewhat good shape. My MHR should apparently be around 160 BPM. Well I'm almost always in the 170-180 range when doing these exercises. Yesterday I got to 190 and even 200. Should I slow down?
I'm of course completely tired and breathing heavy…etc. But no chest pains and I know when my body needs to rest so I do. But I guess I'm wondering if I should not be working out above my MHR? I like to push myself to the limits but is this dangerous?
