Best Heart Rate Monitor – YouTube – Heart Rate monitor
Thursday, December 31st, 2009I purchased my FT60 heart rate monitor because of advice from a personal trainer. He said that if I wanted to increase the efficiency of my workouts, I needed to start monitoring my heart rate. I have recently started a weight loss regimen, and I have started seeing much better results since I started using the HRM. In fact, I was considering hiring a personal trainer to help me lose weight, and now I don’t need one!
Apparently the good folks down at Polar are style conscious, because this is a very attractive watch to wear! It comes in styles that are bold and masculine, as well as floral designs for the females. I certainly did not buy it to augment my wardrobe, but it looks good and that’s a plus.
In order to appreciate the value of a heart rate monitor, it is necessary to understand why keeping track of your heart rate while exercising is important. While exercising, your heart beats increase as a response to a greater demand for oxygen.
We now know that if the heart rate is kept in a certain zone, or range, for an extended period of time, positive benefits can occur. Your heart rate zone is determined by your age.
Naturally, the benefit I was most interested in was losing weight. However, by wearing the Polar FT60 while I exercise, I was excited to find out that it can provide data about the zone best for me to lose FAT, not just weight.
WHOOPEEEE!
Polar STAR is the main feature that provides motivation and advances your training. Polar STAR gives you weekly training goals based on data that it has recorded from your previous training sessions. It is now a breeze for me to set and reach goals. Polar has a website where You can download new exercises called polarpersonaltrainer.com.
The great aspect of the FT60 is that you import personal data, such as height, weight, age etc. etc., so the zones provided are totally personalized. You advance in accordance with your goals.
In conclusion, while their is no substitute for the human touch, IE a personal trainer, a heart rate monitor could be a great substitute for individuals on a budget. I did a lot of testing, and found none better than the FT60!
